Life Is So Much Fun

I haven't blogged on here in a while because things that I make funny were turned into nasty things.  So much has happened in the last few months, some I can't talk about yet, and some I can.  My Mom lived with us for quite a few months and really kept us hopping.  Since I was sick I took care of her as long as I could.  All too soon she moved to a Nursing Home where she could get the therapy and attention she needed.  We visited often and found out she was one of the nurses favorites.  Just her sassy attitude with them imbedded her in their hearts.  They took great care of her.

One day I got the dreaded call, she wasn't doing well.  God had decided it was her time to go to him.  She passed quietly, just like she lived.  I got permission to bury her in the family plot.  During her burial there was a loud thunder clap that made everyone jump and then the train whistle blew for her, then we heard dynamite go off.  Mom got the last word.......

So life is too short no matter what your age.  Live each day like it is your last and be happy.

Bird Feeder

This is a little update on Bob's bird feeder that he built to keep the squirrels out.  I knew eventually the squirrels would take on the challenge and get into the feeder.  The smell of seeds finally got to them.  We got up one morning and there is the squirrel sucking up seeds as fast as he could.  "How did he get in?"  So we sat and watched a while and soon there was the squirrel.  He looked up and jumped over the can and went right up and fed.

Next Bob wanted to put a cloth skirt on it.  I finally got a piece of material and he duct taped it on.  I knew they could climb right up that.  Yes, I love being right.  It must have been too late to come back out.  The next morning I had to break the bad news to him again.  Yes, the squirrel had returned!  He now knows he is defeated.  We are now looking for a gigantic garbage can lid.

Oh, by the way, the squirrel is a female!

Prom Time

All grown up.  At least that is what they think.  We knew better.  Junior year in school brings numerous social dates.  Prom is one.  It is suppose to be a great night in your life so you must find the most beautiful gown in the world.  We went to numerous places to look.  She must have tried on 10 dresses, in each store before she found the right one.  The color was wrong, the sleeves aren't right, too low in the front, not enough material ~ these were some of the excuses.  And let's not forget the cost.  It is a prom dress not a wedding gown!  Money doesn't grow on trees!  By the end of the shopping trip all I wanted to do was go home, headache and all.  At least we finally agreed on a gown that pleased us both.  Next is shoes!  Help!!!!!

The Squirrelproof Birdfeeder

Last year Bob put a "squirrel proof feeder up."  We made bets, mine of course was they will get into it.  It has taken a while but we now have a squirrel that gets right into it.  Yes, I sit here and laugh.  He has a plastic bag hanging right now.  Yes, it still gets in.  Back to the drawing board!  By the way, I won $5.00.  Took long enough.

Traveling Book

I just signed an okay to have my book go to a Book viewing in Las Vegas for three days.  They will take a book to put on display for all to see.  How exciting that will be.  I can fly out if I want to see what it is all about.  Last year they had 120,000 people go through.  Maybe a publisher will take notice to my book and review and actually read it.  That would be awesome.  I would love getting a contract, a real contract where they pay to publish and market my book.  I have my fingers crossed.

The Dust Bunny Has Me

We all have dust bunnies under our beds, some bigger than others at times.  When we were kids we were always afraid of what was under our beds.  If you fell out of bed, you may go to another dimension or some creature will grab you and pull you under.  So never fall out of bed.  When the kids were young they loved to bounce on the bed until they fell off the edge and got stuck between the wall and the bed.  They would try their hardest to get out but the dust bunny would keep them there and they had to call an adult to save them.  Of course when we went to the door, all we could do is laugh, and the child would get madder!  Such a game we play.  Love being a Mother.

Winter

I know it has been a while since I have been here.  I needed a vacation from everything.  Winter is still hanging on.  My daffodils are up 3 inches, my crocus were popping up until some nasty wild creature ate them, and there are small buds on the lilac bushes.  I know Spring is just around the corner but I wish it would hurry up.  The years that go from Winter to Summer make it hard.  We go from burning wood one day to needing the air conditioner the next.  I am requesting a few days in between that are warm not hot.

Oh by the way, we are expecting snow tomorrow and he already put the snow shovels away.  I told him not to.......

Cats

As you know we have a few cats.  They are very well behaved, or so I thought.  I see others say that their cats have gotten into their yarn and destroyed what they were working on.  Not mine.  They leave my yarn alone, my projects are in the same spot as I left them.  If I throw a small of yarn to them, they and the dog will play with it.

Bob couldn't sleep so out to the living room he went.  He couldn't believe his eyes.  There was thread wrapped around the chairs and table.  It all came from my serger that I use to make my Preemie blankets.  Attached to the thread was the culprit ~ his two cats.  One had the thread in his mouth while the other was pulling on it.  They were having quite the time until they got caught red handed.  Bob cleaned up the mess but told me about it the second I got up.  I checked out the damage.  Sitting on the serger was all of the thread that they were playing with.  It looked like a big spider web.  I was told that there was more thread but he threw it away.  The threads all needed to be restarted ~ not an easy feat, but was done.  Now I must outsmart them so they don't play again!  Any ideas?

Password

What would you like to use as a password?  Must have 8 letters, 1 letter must be a capital and you must use numbers in it, oh but don't exceed 10 letters and numbers.  How often have you read this.  Our phones and computers all have passwords.  Do not use the same password for everything, someone might hack you.  Then once you get on the phone or computer and go into a site, they want a password.  Now you have already used the ones you remember, so think of another one.  Then the next site wants one too.  It's okay if you are younger, you can remember all those passwords.  Once you hit a certain age it's ~ what was the password for this site.  They will give you a hint ~ what was your favorite pet?  Now which one was that?  Finally you hit the "Send my password to me."  It will go to your email.  Sometimes they give you some numbers to put in and you must reset your password.  Now do you use the same password?  I like the little book they have in some stores that you can write all your passwords in.  Only problem, you must put it in a secure place and that also has a password.....

Welcome To the New Year

Wow, the Holidays are over.  Isn't it great?  The tree is down with minimal loss of needles.  Usually half the tree is left in the house.  We did remember to put the tree cover under the tree so that did help.  Now we are working on all the leftover food.  Poor Bob can't wait till he can have a cooked meal, instead of a reheated meal.  Let's not forget the cookies!  We have lots of chocolate chip cookies.  I have two different bags, one soft because of the piece of bread, and the other like hockey pucks.  Yep, Bob has to eat all those too.  We have about another two days of leftovers, unless someone sneaks in there and eats them before tomorrow.  Here doggie, doggie!..... Happy New Year!
